- The American Red Cross warns that there’s an “ongoing emergency blood and platelet shortage.” And, with the winter holiday season heating up, this might not get any better. HB residents have the opportunity to donate blood and platelets on Wednesday, at CrossPoint Church and today and Nov. 19 at the HB Masonic Center. You can schedule an appointment by dialing 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). “Those who come to donate Nov. 1-23 will receive a $10 Amazon.com Gift Card by email, thanks to Amazon.” (OC Breeze)
- The Huntington Beach Turkey Wobble is a go! Scheduled for November 25, runners and walkers should come to PCH and Beach Boulevard. In addition to being fun, the event also raises funds to help people with clean water. In the past, the “event has raised enough money to drill more than 40 wells in developing countries including Haiti, Uganda, India, Guatemala, Honduras, and the Philippines.” (Patch)
- Do you remember the former Cal State Fullerton employee who is charged with fatally stabbing a man a couple of years ago? The suspect was arrested in HB at his home. Currently held at the Theo Lacy Facility, his pretrial was rescheduled to January 28. It is interesting to note that this is the suspect’s “ninth pretrial since his arrest in 2019.” (Daily Titan)
- The HBFD Fire Explorer Program is recruiting. It is open to residents between the ages of 14 and 21. This program is customized for younger participants who want an introduction to the “fire service, emergency medial services, and marine safety.” (City Manager)
- Are you traveling this winter holiday season? Let the HBPD’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) know. It will send a volunteer to your place to conduct exterior security checks. You can sign up online for this service. (City of HB)

- Daily Titan: Visit the Surf City dog beach. It extends 1.5 miles between Goldenwest and Seapoint. Take the doggies off the leash, and let them roam around the sand and water. There are 22 dog bag dispensers; please use them to clean up after the pups. (By the way, it’s okay to pick up some poop and dispose of it properly, even if it didn’t come from your dogs.)
