Here are the top stories today in Huntington Beach:
- Mayor Carr was on hand on Saturday to assist with the unveiling of the “Adopt a Channel” sign at Bushard between Yorktown and Garfield. Scout Troop 555 is the first participant in the program. The young men have volunteered to clean up the channel once every month. (City of HB)
- Pointing a laser at an aircraft is a federal crime. Repeat after me. Even so, folks still do it. Cases in point are two men, one of HB, who were arrested on Wednesday. They are charged with “pointing lasers at police helicopters.” (@FBILosAngeles)
- Public Works Maintenance Operations announced Friday that it completed the Newland and Bushard Corridor improvement project. Crews planted more than 100 trees. Species included Eastern Redbud and Crape Myrtle. (CityofHBPIO)
- On Thursday, the OC Health Care Agency removed “posted Ocean Water Warning signs” at the Mariner’s Point Fuel Dock. However, as of Friday afternoon, ocean water bacteria levels exceed state health standards again at Huntington Harbour Clubhouse Marina, Coral Cay Beach, and Sunset Aquatic Marina. - It’s never too early to start planning for the Fourth of July. However, the Fourth of July Executive Board has ten vacancies! Because this board is critical for the Fourth of July Parade planning and associated tasks, volunteers are strongly urged to apply. (CityofHB)
