  1. We had a 250-gallon sewage spill! It affects “the harbor water area from 100 yards north to 100 yards south of the Warner Public Dock in Huntington Harbour.” It closed this area to ocean water-contact sports, such as swimming, surfing, and diving. Officials say that the sewage came from a boat’s holding tank and was accidentally released into the ocean. (OC Beach Info/Patch)
  2. It’s official, the HB City Council passed a resolution “supporting a permanent ban on new offshore oil drilling.” It affects any new “offshore oil and gas drilling, as well as fracking in state and federal waters.” So far, there have been 99 other West Coast communities to pass this type of resolution. (CBS)
  3. There’s a climate action rally coming to HB! It’ll be this Saturday at the intersection of Main Street and PCH. Speakers will include physicist Loraine Lundquist, who is running for LA City Council, and Amber Stoffel of Amigos de Bolsa Chica. Groups putting on the rally want to get “on a path to net-zero emissions by 2050.” (News Santa Ana)
  4. The Lake Forest location of Saddleback Church will host a free job fair for everyone in the OC. It takes place on October 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees may visit workshops on resume writing and interview preparation ahead of time. There will be 60 employers present on that day.
