- Sewage Spill Update: The OC Health Care Agency has removed its water closure signs. The "area 100 yards north to 100 yards south of the Warner Public dock" is open again. At this time, “no ocean, harbor, or bay water closures are currently in effect.” (@OCHealth/OC Beach Info)
- Oil Spill Timeline Update: The OC sheriff’s office is weighing in on the timeline of the oil spill response. The Orange County Sheriff's Department Harbor Patrol deputies working the Airshow “began hearing chatter” about a smell of a possible fuel spill at 5:30 p.m. They went looking for the odor’s source but failed to find it. At 6:15 p.m., harbor patrol dispatchers “overheard a cargo ship crew report a possible fuel spill in federal waters near the oil rig.” Deputies did not respond, “because it was not within their jurisdiction.” At 8 p.m., the Coast Guard asked harbor patrol deputies in Newport Beach to help. Darkness hampered the investigation, and it continued the next morning at 7:45 a.m. (KFI)
- Tolemar has a new owner. The “market leader and brand destination for powersports enthusiasts” is headquartered in HB. It was acquired by New York-based BRS & Co., which is a private equity firm. Tolemar noted that “BRS's experience in the automotive aftermarket will be valuable as we seek to reach more customers with new products.” (PR Newswire)
