- Oil Sheen Update: Authorities suggested Sunday that the sheen spotted off HB is a leak from the damaged part of the pipeline that caused the oil spill in early October. A dive team reported “small oil droplets near the damaged section of the pipeline.” At that time, they replaced the Syntho-Glass wrap with a new one. Because there has been no oil going through the pipeline since the spill, experts consider the droplets residual. (L.A. Times/paywall)
- Have you smelled smoke in HB and surrounding areas? The OC Fire Authority announced Sunday that this is drift smoke coming from the Lanza Fire in Riverside County. The OC is safe but may continue to have to deal with the smell. This fire started Sunday morning near Mitchell Avenue and Valley Drive. (@OCFireAuthority/Cal Fire)
- The Slapfish at 19696 Beach Boulevard is giving away breakfast burritos and sandwiches on Thanksgiving Day. All Chef Andrew Gruel asks you to do is make a donation to Save the Brave. This is an organization that helps veterans. If you are a veteran or are in need, please stop by and receive the food for FREE. (@ChefGruel)
- The city has canceled residential street sweeping for Thursday and Friday. There will be no citations issued for parking on the “wrong” side of the street on these days. The street sweeping schedule goes back to normal on Monday. (@CityofHBPIO)
- Don Jose, the iconic Mexican restaurant at 9093 Adams Avenue, is celebrating 55 years in business! To show its appreciation, Don Jose offers customers 20% off food items Monday through Thursday through the end of November. Simply mention “DJ” when ordering. (@OriginalDonJose)
