There was a shooting and an arrest. Also, the light show the other night was spectacular. Finally, there is scuttlebutt that an anchor might have dragged the oil pipeline.

- On Tuesday, there was shooting at Walnut Avenue and Third Street. Two men had gunshot wounds. The PD stopped a vehicle soon afterward and noted that “some of the individuals in the vehicle might be associated with the shooting.” (OC Register)
- Between the Counties of Orange, San Diego, and Riverside, the National Weather Service counted 2,074 “in-cloud and cloud-to-ground lightning strikes.” All across the Southland, there were about 4,000 lightning strikes. By the way, the next storm is coming Friday! (CBS)
- Are the long wait lines at the Long Beach and Los Angeles ports to blame for the oil spill? There is an investigation whether one of the ships’ anchors struck the oil pipeline. Authorities have noted that a "4,000-foot section of the 17.7 mile-long pipeline was displaced with a maximum lateral movement of approximately 105 feet." However, so far the Coast Guard cannot match the position of a vessel with the ruptured line. (CNN)
- How is the Navigation Center doing? Last month, it had an availability of 132 beds, with 120 client enrollments. The average occupancy rate sat at 91%. Of those staying at the facility, 4.8% are couples, 34.4% women, and 58.4% men. There have been six adverse incidents, of which two required the assistance from 911. (HB Homeless Solutions)
- The Waterfront Beach Resort is donating a portion of its proceeds from Surf Hero Marketplace to help those cleaning and caring for wildlife affected by the oil spill.
