It’s time to plan for January first and your attendance at the Splash. Also, there are reports of a shooting at Sunset Beach. Finally, Darrell Issa will run for the 48th District seat.

- If you enjoy freezing, you must come down to the annual Surf City Splash. Scheduled for Saturday at high noon, you can join a group of other intrepid ocean lovers and run into the water on the north side of the HB pier. Traditionally, there are about 300 people in attendance, although last year there were only about 30. There will be a breakfast and entertainment, so get there around 9 AM! (HBN)
- On Monday afternoon, there was a shooting in Sunset Beach. The HBPD located the armed suspect and an officer opened fire. “One victim and one suspect have been transported to the hospital.” There was a perimeter set up at Warner and South Pacific. (@HBPoliceDept)
- Darrell Issa currently represents the 50th District. He announced Dec. 21 that “with the encouragement and support of family, friends and especially constituents,” he will run for the new 48 Congressional District. Scott Peters of the 52nd District intends to run for the new 50th District. (KUSI)
- The Saddleback Medical Center became the victim of swatting. A person claiming to have a bomb said they were at the hospital. Patients were moved outside. Officials later announced that the call was a false alarm. (NBC)
