City Of Imperial Sues The County Of Imperial (kxoradio.com) — Imperial city officials have filed a lawsuit against Imperial County, demanding more transparency about a large proposed data center planned between El Centro and Imperial near Aten and Clark. The city says it isn’t seeking money, but wants answers on who is behind the project, how recycled water and power from Imperial Irrigation District would be used, and why local communities haven’t been consulted.

Trail blazing duo make history (thedesertreview.com) — Imperial Valley families may be interested that dual-enrollment through Imperial Valley College is helping local teens like Noah and Edward Munguia earn college degrees while still in high school. The brothers, competing in sports and academics, are using IVC’s dual and concurrent enrollment options available to students at schools including Imperial High to fast-track their futures.

3. Imperial County lights first public menorah (ivpressonline.com) — Imperial County gathered in Imperial to light what organizers say is the county’s first public menorah, uniting Jewish residents, local officials, and Mexican consular representatives. Speakers stressed standing against antisemitism and using Hanukkah’s message of light to confront fear and recent violence abroad while strengthening community ties in the Imperial Valley.

4. Report on Burrowing Owl (kxoradio.com) — Imperial-area residents can take note that a new 30-year study submitted by the Imperial Irrigation District finds Western Burrowing Owl populations in the Imperial and Coachella valleys are healthy, stable, and in some places increasing. With more than 7,100 breeding pairs counted, the report argues the owls don’t currently warrant listing under the California Endangered Species Act, and is now under review by state wildlife officials.
