5 things Imperial Beach residents should know Tuesday.

1. Mommas of IB, a new Imperial Beach moms meetup group will have a get together in Reama Park Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Visit the group's page to RSVP.

2. A bird that is native to the Siberian tundra was spotted for the first time in San Diego history last week near 7th Street. Birders, or bird enthusiasts, made their way to IB from as far away as Colorado. Sightings were also reported Monday. I wonder if it will stay in town Tuesday? 

3. The first of three meetings to discuss walkability and safety near Imperial Beach Charter School and Mar Vista High School will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at South Bay Union School District offices.

4. Get to Work, an eight-part series to air on Sundance Channel Aug. 13, documents the journey of people looking for work and going through Second Chance's STRIVE Program in San Diego. 

New figures released last week found that Imperial Beach's unemployment rate went up near a full percentage point in June. San Diego's unemployment rate also saw an increase.

5. South Bay-Imperial Beach Kiwanis will hold weekly meeting at noon Tuesday at the Boys & Girls Club of South County, Imperial Beach.
