Patch loves photos! Share your photos with your local Patch, and your work could be featured.

IMPERIAL BEACH, CA—IB locals have been treated to mesmerizing bioluminescent waves lately.

The natural phenomenon happens when marine organisms emit light in response to disturbances, such as breaking waves or splashes in the water. The effect turns the waves an electric blue.
