Motorist Who Was Fatally Shot During Confrontation In San Diego ID'd

The fatal gunfire erupted after the two men pulled over and approached each other for unknown reasons, authorities said.

CHULA VISTA, CA — Authorities Friday publicly identified a 38-year- old motorist who was shot to death this week during a confrontation with another driver in Chula Vista.

Eduardo Villasenor of Chula Vista got into the fatal encounter in the 500 block of E Street shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to police.

The fatal gunfire erupted after the two men pulled over and approached each other for unknown reasons, Sgt. Anthony Molina said. The unidentified shooter then got back into his car and fled to the west toward nearby Interstate 5.

Officers arrived to find the mortally wounded victim in the driver's seat of his vehicle. Villasenor was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The reason for the deadly confrontation remains unknown.

The gunman, described as a bald-headed, light-skinned man, was driving a gray older-model four-door Nissan Altima with a dent on the rear driver's- side quarter panel, and stickers on the driver's side of the trunk and the passenger-side rear window.
