LA CAÑADA-FLINTRIDGE, CA - It must be hard for the bear that was spotted in a La Cañada-Flintride neighborhood taking a dip in a backyard pool, climbing a tree and napping before heading back to the wilderness Wednesday.

The bear was first sighted in the general area of the 4600 block of Palm Terrace Court at around 10 a.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

Broadcast footage showed the bear taking a dip in a backyard pool before taking off and climbing a tree. It then napped for several hours before climbing down and headed back to the wilderness, according to a California Department of Fish and Wildlife tweet.

Earlier in the day, Fish and Wildlife spokesman Andrew Hughan said the department was waiting for the news helicopters to run out of fuel and leave. The noise from the helicopters was making the bear nervous. It could be several hours before the department can coax the bear out of the tree, he said at the time.

Residents were advised to stay indoors while authorities worked to get the bear safely back to its natural habitat.

A bear was also found wandering the streets of Pasadena last month. That bear also found its way back to the wilderness.
