Comments of the Week: 'It All Sounds Fishy!'

Check out the best, funniest, strangest and most informative things our readers have to say.

We take pride in our work here at Patch and always strive to bring our readers interesting news. However, we must admit, sometimes the most interesting part of a great Patch story is the comments from readers that it sparks.

Here are some of the best, funniest, strangest and most informative comments from Patch stories around the Crescenta Valley Patch sites this past week:

La Crescenta Day Care Facility Reportedly Had Long List of Violations
One of the more shocking stories in the Crescenta Valley in recent memory was the arrest this month of a La Crescenta day care facility operator where a toddler allegedly tested positive for marijuana. The facility had logged years of violations with state inspectors, complaints that included a persistent urine smell. When the facility was shut down after the arrest, it allegedly had no power and was full of rat feces. Reader Denise asked a lot of the questions many must have had after hearing these allegations:

This does not make any sense. I would think that when parents drop off & pick up their children, they would 'smell' these smells, or see the noted problems. At the very least, wouldn't a parent inspect the facility of where their children are basically being raised. How could this go on for so long without one parent noticing. And if inspectors found these problems, why was she still allowed to operate? It all sounds fishy!

CA Supreme Court Refuses Case of Glendale Man Who Killed His Wife and Microwaved His Dog
One of the area's most gruesome crimes came to its final conclusion this past week as former Montrose Search and Rescue Team member John J. Levin's murder case appeal was denied.

Is This Billboard 'Not Very La Cañada-ish'?
Although we posted the story all the way back on July 18, this one is the comment gift that keeps on giving. People have a lot to say about this story, and the billboard in question. For some, its has raised the issue of crass lanugage in public. For others, its raised the issue of billboards in general, while for others it speaks to the nature of La Canada. What do you think?

I have to admit, I'm not a fan of this billboard or any billboards. Luckily we don't have bright digital billboards found in many other neighborhoods of Los Angeles. Concerned_Mother, are you serious or just trying to exaggerate your point. Unless your 17 year old son is locked away without any outside influence, I'm pretty sure he didn't learn the "A-word" from this particular billboard.

Just to enlighten anyone "Concerned" with the word "ass", "Ass" is not a bad word, it is actually another name for donkey... "Arse" on the other hand is another word for butt. If it said "Kick Arse" then you should be a concerned parent.

Still talking about the same billboard? Time for a new subject, how about the 710 FWY they are trying to push through? Now that is a REAL problem. A billboard can be removed, but a freeway.... don't think so!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this statement posted earlier ......................"Oh please... "Not very La Canada-ish"? That statement alone reminds me what i didnt like about growing up in LCF...people thinking and acting as though us La Canadans were above the every day riff-raff of the outsiders..." did i say i love this statement!

Sunland Pooch is Still Missing After Five Weeks!
Hildie, our 10-year old, 45-lb. Terrier mix, went missing on Saturday, July 6th from fireworks in our area and hasn't been seen since.  We were not home when she scaled our locked, 5' high, wrought-iron fence from fear of the loud explosions. (more...)
