Family Free Day At Lanterman House Will Have Crafts, Gingerbread

LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE, CA — The Lanterman Historical Museum Foundation will host a Family Free Day at the Lanterman House and Visitor Center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 17. There will be a range of fun, family-friendly activities, the Lanterman House press release said.

Visitors will be able to help decorate the Lanterman House Christmas tree by creating
Gingerbread-inspired ornaments in a craft led by Girl Scout Troop 9471, the press release said. Baker Paula Scott of Jane’s Cakes will demonstrate gingerbread house decorating techniques, as
she builds a custom gingerbread house that will be on display in the Lanterman House over the
holidays.

The house, which is free to tour that day, will also feature mini exhibits showcasing the Lanterman family holiday traditions and the history of gingerbread.

"The Lanterman House is celebrating the history of gingerbread this fall. We hope the community will join us to help decorate our tree for the holiday season, and perhaps create an ornament for their own home," said Laura Verlaque, Executive Director of the Lanterman Historical Museum Foundation. "This event is a prelude to our first annual Gingerbread House contest, which will be held during our Holiday Open House on December 15. The Gingerbread House contest is free to enter, and open to all age groups."
