Confirmed: Skeleton Found in Panama that of Dana Point Woman

The skeleton of a Dana Point woman missing almost two years has been discovered, Panama officials announced Wednesday.

DNA testing proved a skeleton found inside a military-style backpack was that of Yvonne Baldelli, prosecutor Vielka Gisela Broce said, according to the Associated Press.

Yvonne Baldelli went missing from the tiny Panamanian island of Carenero in Nov. 2011 after feuding with her retired U.S. Marine boyfriend, Brian Brimager. Brimager has since been arrested on federal charges related to her disappearance.

A man who was cutting bushes found Baldelli's remains Aug. 20, the AP said.

Baldelli was last seen Nov. 26 after moving to Panama with her boyfriend.

Brimager has been indicted on federal charges of obstructing justice. Prosecutors allege Brimager had physically abused Baldelli while planning a return to California with another woman he later married.

Prosecutors allege the boyfriend searched the Internet for "washing mattress blood stain" a day after Baldelli went missing and later threw his mattress from the hostel El Sapo into the ocean, telling the hostel manager his dog urinated on it.

Brimager is also accused of taking money from her bank account that day and filling about 10 trash bags with Baldelli's belongings, including clothing, jewelry and cosmetics.

The couple left Orange County after Baldelli was laid off from her job with Proctor and Gamble, CBS News said. She was 41 the last time she was seen alive.
