CVCS Quarterback Chasing Peyton Manning

The Denver Broncos quarterback's high school record, that is.

From a press release:

Denver Bronco’s quarterback Peyton Manning doesn’t know it yet, but he has competition for his high school career passing yardage total. His competition: Riley Babick, quarterback for the Eagles of Capistrano Valley Christian Schools. With football season underway, Babick, a senior, is only 192 yards away from eclipsing Manning’s career high school passing yardage of 7,190 yards?

Babick’s total yardage as of Sept. 26, 2014: 6,999.

When Babick breaks Manning’s record, if asked the famous post Super Bowl question, “What are you going to do next?” don’t expect Babick to utter the famous answer related to the world’s most well-known theme park.

Instead, Babick’s plan after breaking Manning’s high school record is to “ice my shoulder and watch the film,” he said. Babick added, “And, start preparing for the next opponent, say ‘God Bless’ and I owe it all to my linemen and receivers.”

Coach Eric Preszler, Boys Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, said, “Riley takes it one game at a time. He’s aware of the total yardage mark but doesn’t let it cross his mind.”

Coach Preszler knows that Babick, a business major, plans on playing football in college to help progress his leadership skills in preparation for a career.

Currently, Babick has multiple colleges watching his every move.

There’s one more thing, Babick and Manning have in common. Glance carefully at their photos. The eyes say it all. Assured and unflinching—the look of two record-breaking quarterbacks.

While Manning doesn’t need to look over his shoulder, Babick only needs to look forward as he racks up yardage on his high school record.
