Dana Point To Rename Street After Whale Watching Pioneer: Report
Don Hansen is credited with starting Orange County's whale-watching business, the Dana Point Times reported.
DANA POINT, CA — A portion of Dana Point Harbor Driver will soon be renamed the Don Hansen Memorial Drive, the Dana Point Times reported.
The street renaming is in honor of Don Hansen, who started Orange County's whale-watching business and for launching Dana Point's Festival of Whales, the paper reported. Hansen died on Jan. 5 at the age of 87.
Mayor Joe Muller said the tribute to Hansen was fitting as he transformed the city by bringing "whale watching and sportfishing to the harbor," the Times reported.
