The three-week Del Mar National Horse Show opens with Western Week.
The 65-year-old show started as part of the San Diego County Fair, but eventually spun off. It attracts more than 1,500 horses and riders, who compete in western, hunter/jumper and dressage competitions.
Dressage begins April 28 and hunter/jumper begins May 3.

Admission: $10-$18, grandstand; shows at 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Weekdays, free until 4 p.m.
