Ike's Love & Sandwiches Opens In La Jolla

LA JOLLA, CA — Ike's Love & Sandwiches is expanding in San Diego County, with the brand's latest sandwich shop now open in La Jolla.

The new location, which opened Monday, is the company's seventh store in the San Diego area. There are sandwich shops in Del Mar and Poway, as well as stores in the Gaslamp, Midway, Sorrento Valley and University areas of San Diego.

"I love hanging out in La Jolla. All the stores around San Diego crush it and it's because the people are chill and show me so much love," said Ike Shehadeh, founder of Ike's Love & Sandwiches. "I'm giving the love right back to you the best way I know how, with two new sandwiches and an insanely delicious sauce I created just for you."

Ike's offers meat lovers, vegetarian, vegan, halal and gluten-free options and combinations. The brand's "Dutch Crunch" bread is paired with Ike's exclusive "Dirty Sauce," a creamy garlic aioli toasted right into the bread.

Ike's at La Jolla Village Town Square will feature two exclusive sandwiches. "Hannie Calder" is made with steak, Ike's "Seuss Sauce," fries and American cheese. "Ellen Scripps" is made with vegan turkey, veggie bacon, Ike's "Seuss Sauce" and pepper jack cheese.

Ike's first sandwich shop opened in 2007 in San Francisco. The La Jolla store at 8657 Villa La Jolla Drive is the company's 97th location. More locations are planned, the company told Patch. Ike'scurrently has eateries across California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas and Colorado.

A grand opening event is scheduled May 25 at the La Jolla location. The first 50 customers will receive a free sandwich, a t-shirt, and a chance to win free sandwiches for a year. Shehadeh will sign t-shirts and take selfies throughout the day.
