La Jolla Cove Named Most Picturesque Beach In America

LA JOLLA, CA — The Golden State is known for its beautiful beaches that draw people from all over the world to come visit, and according to a new study from hotel company Westgate Resorts, La Jolla Cove is America's most picturesque beach.

The study analyzed the number of Instagram hashtags for the most visited beaches across the country and then compared the numbers with each beach's length to calculate which beaches had the highest number of hashtags per meter.

With just 86 meters of length, La Jolla topped the list of most Instagrammable beaches in the country despite being the smallest beach in the top 10. According to the study, there was a whopping 4,257 hashtags per meter at the San Diego County beach.

"The area is a top destination for beachgoers and a hotspot for divers, snorkelers, and swimmers," Westgate Resorts said.

Four more California beaches made the resort's list including Laguna Beach, which placed third, followed by Venice Beach, which placed fourth. Just missing the top five, Neighboring beaches Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach placed sixth and seventh on the list respectively.

South Beach in Florida placed second on the nationwide list and Sandy Beach in Hawaii rounded out the top five.
