2 Weekend Homicides In Lake Elsinore, Wildomar Neighborhoods Are Unrelated: RSO

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — The Lake Elsinore-Wildomar area experienced two homicides over the weekend, but the sheriff's department confirmed the incidents are not related.

The first episode of lethal violence was reported shortly before 7:30 p.m. Friday in the 24000 block of Orange Street, a Wildomar residential tract neighborhood situated just east of Interstate 15.

Deputies were summoned to the address regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. At the scene, they found 64-year-old Jesus Monge and a 56-year-old woman both suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Monge was pronounced dead at the location, while the woman was transported to a local hospital and on Monday was listed in stable condition, the sheriff's department reported.

A suspect was located and arrested in the case. David Rodolfo Jimenez Osornio, 33, was taken into custody on Orange Street and booked into Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Jail records show his bail was set at $1 million, and he is due to appear in court on Wednesday.

Jimenez Osornio's relationship to the victims was not disclosed, though the sheriff's department said they were all Wildomar residents.

The violence was followed by a second deadly incident less than 10 miles away.

Just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday, deputies were called to the 28000 block of Wells Fargo Road in Lake Elsinore regarding another assault with a deadly weapon. The semi-rural residential area situated just east of I-15 is marked by dirt and gravel roads.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found 38-year-old Brian Rivas of Lake Elsinore suffering from a gunshot wound, the sheriff's department reported.

Despite life-saving measures, Rivas was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

No arrests have been made in the case. Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez said the violence was not connected to the Wildomar incident.
