Wildomar Resident Killed In Weekend Crash

The 33-year-old man died at the crash scene.

WILDOMAR, CA — A 33-year-old Wildomar man was killed over the weekend in a freeway crash, authorities confirmed.

Carlos Montoya died in the wreck that was reported just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday on eastbound state Route 60, west of Day Street, in Riverside, according to the coroner's bureau.

Witnesses reported a dark-colored vehicle was sparking and swerving before crashing and overturning in the HOV and No. 1 lane, according to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol.

Riverside Animal Control was called to take a dog that was apparently involved in the crash. An update on the canine was unavailable.

Eastbound 60 lanes were closed for the investigation and cleanup. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the CHP.
