4-Story Hotel With Gas Station, Car Wash, Eateries, Planned In Wildomar

The travel center is slated for 6.65 vacant acres at the northwest corner of Cherry Street and Bundy Canyon Road, adjacent to Interstate 15.

WILDOMAR, CA — Plans to build a large-scale travel center on 6.65 vacant acres in Wildomar will be heard again this week.

The Wildomar Planning Commission will discuss the proposed Cherry Outpost Retail Center during a 6 p.m. special meeting on Thursday, June 26, at City Hall, 23873 Clinton Keith Road, Suite 106.

The center is slated for the east side of Interstate 15 at the northwest corner of Cherry Street and Bundy Canyon Road. It's expected to feature a four-story, 72-room hotel that totals 45,571 square feet; a gas station complex, including a 4,176-square-foot convenience store with an attached 3,200-square-foot drive-thru restaurant, and an RV fueling area; a stand-alone 4,425-square-foot fast food/drive-thru restaurant; and a 5,724-square-foot express car wash, according to city documents.

During a June 4 Wildomar Planning Commission meeting, the commissioners approved the project as a whole, but a conditional use permit resolution did not clearly include the gas station as part of the recommended approval.

As part of this week's special Planning Commission meeting, the commissioners will consider a resolution to approve a CUP for the gas station and convenience store. The store will feature beer and wine sales, according to city documents.

Once constructed, access to the Cherry Outpost Retail Center would be from Cherry Street, with no direct access to Bundy Canyon Road, according to city documents.

The project applicant is Corona-based J&T Management Inc.
