Child Dies In Lake Perris Drowning

MORENO VALLEY, CA -- A girl died Monday night after being pulled from a Riverside County lake. Firefighters responded to a report of a child drowning at 5:05 p.m. Monday at Lake Perris State Park near Lot 11, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Arriving firefighters found the girl had been pulled from the lake. She was then transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition, but later died.

Authorities later identified the girl as 9-year-old Alissa Montgomery of Perris.

The incident is under investigation.
