Coroner IDs Driver Killed In Lake Mathews Single-Car Crash
The driver of a gray sedan veered off of the two-lane corridor, hitting several trees, one of which collapsed onto the roof of his car.

LAKE MATHEWS, CA — A 33-year-old motorist was killed when his vehicle went out of control and slammed into trees alongside a road just east of Lake Mathews, authorities said Wednesday.
Marvin Flores of Perris was fatally injured at about 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday on Gavilan Road, near Multiview Drive, according to the Riverside County Coroner's Office.
The California Highway Patrol said Flores was at the wheel of a gray sedan that veered off of the two-lane corridor and hit several trees, one of which collapsed onto the roof of his car.

No other vehicles were involved.
Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location within minutes and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The southbound lane of Gavilan Road was closed at the location for roughly 90 minutes while the wreckage was removed and a preliminary investigation was conducted, the CHP said.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information was asked to contact the CHP Riverside office at 951-637-8000.
