Down Powerline In Riverside Likely Caused Garage Fire

Two detached garages from a Riverside residence were burned, fire officials said. Two vehicles also sustained damage.

RIVERSIDE, CA — Two detached garages from a Riverside residence were burned Sunday and fire investigators believe the fire was likely caused by a down powerline.

The fire was reported at 3 a.m. Sunday in the 4900 block of Magnolia Avenue, where firefighters found the blaze threatening the residence, according to the Riverside Fire Department.

Firefighters found a down powerline as they attempted to protect the residence from the fire, and Riverside Public Utilities was requested to secure the down powerline.

Two vehicles also sustained fire damage, but the home was undamaged. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation, but the fire department stated it was more than likely caused by the down powerline.
