Voluntary Evacuations Issued For Thousands Of LE Residents

Officials warned the residents who are recovering from the Holy Fire that strong rains could cause landslides.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA -- Thousands of Lake Elsinore residents who are recovering from the Holy Fire were encouraged to leave the area over threats of mudslides.

In a message to 1,200 homes, or more than 4,000 residents, officials said thunderstorms are anticipated for the Holy Fire burn area Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday evening.

The following zones are under a voluntary evacuation warning: Laguna, El Cariso, Amorose, Withrow A, Rice, AlberHill, Horsethief B, Glen Eden, Grace, Maitri and Glen Ivy. These zones SHOULD GO NOW – this is the safest time to leave.

Officials warned that "voluntary evacuations can turn into mandatory evacuations in a matter of minutes."

"Once mandatory evacuations are ordered, you may not be able to go back to your home until it is cleared by officials," the alert read.

A care and reception center is open at Elsinore High School at located at 21800 Canyon Dr in Wildomar and Santiago High School located at 1395 E. Foothill Parkway in Corona.
