Fatal Crash in Lake Elsinore Prompts Traffic Safety Petition

"We are asking that something be done in the short term while a more permanent solution is found," the petition reads in part.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A petition urging Lake Elsinore city officials to improve traffic safety on Railroad Canyon Road, that was partly prompted by a recent crash that killed a teenage girl, now has more than 3,000 signatures.

The four-lane, winding artery runs from Interstate 15 to Goetz Road, where it becomes Newport Road, and has a posted speed limit as high as 50 miles per hour on some parts of the road.

"We are asking that something be done in the short term while a more permanent solution is found ... In addition, we are asking that plans be researched and put into action in the future to increase safety in the Railroad Canyon corridor," said the petition, posted on Change.org earlier this week by Wildomar resident Christa Biddle.
