Fire Crews Work To Rescue 3 People Stranded In Moving Water

Riverside County Fire Department firefighters rescued three people stranded on a sandbag along the Santa Ana River.

RIVERSIDE, CA — Riverside County Fire Department firefighters rescued three people stranded on a sandbag along the Santa Ana River Saturday.

Rescue crews, also from the Corona Fire Department and the Murrieta Fire Department, responded around 3:10 p.m. Saturday to an area near Crestmore Road and Mission Boulevard.

The three people were surrounded by moving water, RCFD officials said.

At 5:45 p.m., fire officials reported that an overhead helicopter helped guide rescuers in an inflatable boat as they removed the people from the sandbar and out of the water with no injuries reported.

It was unknown how they became stranded.
