RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Chief Bill Weiser is re-opening six hazardous hiking areas throughout the region effective November 21st, 2025.

Recent rains and milder temperatures have resulted in more favorable conditions for the enjoyment of outdoor activities in the six areas listed below:

  • Eagle Canyon/Tin Mine (east of Corona)
  • Steel Peak (north of Lake Elsinore)
  • Bautista Canyon (southeast of Hemet)
  • North Mountain (south of Banning, north of San Jacinto)
  • Whitewater Canyon (east of Cabazon)
  • Ramona Bowl (south of Hemet)

“We are pleased to announce the re-opening of Riverside County’s scenic hiking trails and outdoor recreation areas. We welcome residents and visitors back to enjoy these natural spaces and remind everyone to remain vigilant and responsible, as wildland fire risks persist," Fire Chief Bill Weiser said in a recent news release.
