Third Suspect Arrested In Deadly RivCo Parking Lot Shootout
Just four days after a shooting victim succumbed to injuries sustained in October, a third suspect in the incident was arrested.

RIVERSIDE, CA — Detectives arrested a third suspect on Tuesday in connection with a deadly parking lot shooting that unfolded on Oct. 5 in Riverside.
Officers responded to reports of the shooting at about 12:30 a.m. in the 3900 block of Main Street, according to Officer Ryan Railsback of the Riverside Police Department. Upon arrival, they found a man in his mid-20s suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.
The victim, identified as 26-year-old Eduardo Vasquez III, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and later died. He was pronounced dead on Dec. 12.

On Oct. 9, detectives arrested 19-year-olds Uriel Morales and Benjamin Boshae. The investigation continued, and they later identified a third suspect — 20-year-old Fidel Esparza.
With assistance from the depatment's METRO Team, Esparza was arrested in Moreno Valley on Tuesday, Dec. 16 and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for murder and robbery. All three suspects remain in custody.

“This case is a reminder of the importance of personal safety, particularly in busy nightlife and entertainment areas,” said Lt. Trinidad Lomeli. “We encourage people to remain aware of their surroundings, especially when walking between venues or parking areas. Keep personal items hidden, trust your instincts, and if something doesn’t feel right, remove yourself from the situation and report it immediately. Taking simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim.”
Police shared the following personal safety tips:
- Stay aware. Limit distractions and be mindful of your surroundings.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, leave and get help.
- Protect valuables. Keep items out of sight.
- Park smart. Use well-lit areas and have keys ready.
- Lock your vehicle. Never leave it unlocked or running.
- Report concerns. Notify security or police if something looks suspicious
