Interested In Serving On Lake Elsinore City Council? Application Period Opens For One Seat
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and registered voters residing within District 4, which is a western region of the city.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — The city of Lake Elsinore is now accepting applications from qualified residents to fill the vacant District 4 City Council seat previously held by Natasha Johnson.
The vacancy was created following Johnson’s resignation after her successful election this year to represent California’s 63rd State Assembly District.
Applications to fill the vacancy must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office at Lake Elsinore City Hall, 130 South Main Street, no later than Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 5 p.m.

Nomination papers must be obtained from the City Clerk’s Office before filing and submitted with the completed application. Each applicant is required to secure 20 original signatures from registered voters residing within District 4. Applications will not be considered without properly completed nomination papers.
To be eligible for appointment, applicants must be at least 18 years of age and registered voters residing within District 4. Proof of residency and voter registration will be verified upon submittal of application materials.

An appointment to fill the vacancy will take place at one of the following potential City Council meetings: Tuesday, October 14, 2025; Tuesday, October 28, 2025; or Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
City Council meetings are held at the Lake Elsinore Cultural Center, 183 North Main Street.
The term of office for the appointed councilmember will continue to the November 3, 2026, General Municipal Election. If the City Council does not make an appointment, a special election will be held in June 2026 to fill the seat.
Nomination papers and additional information may be obtained during regular business hours at the City Clerk’s Office, which is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
