A 33-year-old Perris man was fatally hit by two cars as he tried to cross SR-74 on Friday.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — The Riverside County coroner's office Saturday released the name of a man struck by vehicles as he ran across state Route 74 in Perris.
John Rubio, 33, was a Perris resident, the coroner's office said.
The crash occurred at about 7 p.m. Friday west of River Road in an unincorporated area between Perris and Lake Elsinore, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Witnesses told CHP officers that a man got off a bus, ran to the highway's center divider and began waving his arms to try to get vehicles to see him as he tried to run across to the other side of the road.
As he attempted to cross the eastbound lanes, he was struck by a Dodge Caravan traveling about 50 mph, driven by Veronica Andrade, 31, of Lake Elsinore, the CHP said.

Moments later, as the man was getting up, another eastbound vehicle, a Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Liliana Avila, 48, of Lake Elsinore, also hit him, despite attempts to avoid him.
Rubio was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner said. Both drivers remained at the scene and no arrests were made.
"CHP would like to remind pedestrians to utilize crosswalks when available, wear bright colored clothing at night when walking and always look both ways before crossing any roadway," spokesman Officer Mike Lassig said in a statement.
