Menifee Man Dies After Getting Hit By SUV
The 32-year-old victim was walking on state Route 74 and crossed into lanes.

HOMELAND, CA — A Menifee man died over the weekend after he was hit by an SUV in the unincorporated community of Homeland.
According to a preliminary report from the California Highway Patrol, the 32-year-old victim was walking on the north shoulder of state Route 74, just east of Melba Lane, shortly before 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
For unclear reasons, he crossed into highway lanes, directly into the path of an eastbound silver Kia Sorrento driven by an 18-year-old Hemet man.

The front of the Kia crashed into the pedestrian who was in the #2 lane, killing him at the scene, the CHP reported.
The driver was traveling approximately 45 miles per hour when the crash occurred, according to the CHP.

The driver stopped, and no arrests were announced. No other injuries were reported.
The pedestrian's identity was not released pending notification of next of kin.
The CHP, Temecula Area office, is continuing to conduct the crash investigation. Witnesses are urged to contact the agency at 951-466-4300.
