Motorcyclist Killed On 15 Freeway In Lake Elsinore ID'd As Corona Man

Witnesses immediately stopped to assist, but the 68-year-old rider was eventually pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A motorcyclist killed on Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore last week was identified by the coroner as a local man.

Steven Matson, 68, of Corona died in a 12:41 p.m. Oct. 31 crash on the northbound side of the freeway just south of Nichols Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau.

Matson was traveling at an unconfirmed speed when his motorcycle veered out of its lane and flipped over, rolling several times and throwing him to the side of the freeway, according to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol.
