Motorist Killed In Corona 91 Freeway Crash

CORONA, CA — A motorist was killed Monday in a two-vehicle collision on the Riverside (91) Freeway in downtown Corona.
The fatality was reported at 4 p.m. in the slow lane on the eastbound 91, between Serfas Club Drive and West Sixth Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said that a Nissan sedan and a Chevrolet sedan impacted at the location, but the circumstances weren't immediately clear.

The Nissan overturned on the shoulder of the freeway, hurling the occupant out of the car, according to reports from the scene.
CHP officers said a tractor-trailer may also have been involved, but it appeared the sedan clipped the big rig after the two cars collided.

Corona Fire Department paramedics reached the location minutes later and pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
There was no word on whether the motorist in the other vehicle was hurt.
Officers shut down the slow lane and Sixth Street exit ramp because of the crash. A SigAlert was issued due to the ensuing traffic jam.
The closure was expected to last at least two hours.
