Murrieta Man Suspected Of Threatening Wildomar City Official: RSO
State law prohibits people from knowingly and willingly threatening the life of, or threatening serious bodily harm to, public officials.

WILDOMAR, CA — A Murrieta man is suspected of threatening a Wildomar city official, the Riverside County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday, though few details were released.
Cody Joseph Salazar, 38, was taken into custody late Sunday night on Copper Court in Murrieta, but he was released early the next morning after posting bail.
According to jail records, he was booked into Southwest Detention Center in French Valley on suspicion of threatening a city official and making a criminal threat of violence. The sheriff's office did not release the specifics of what he allegedly said or which city official he supposedly targeted.

California state law prohibits people from knowingly and willingly threatening the life of, or threatening serious bodily harm to, public officials "with the specific intent that the statement is to be taken as a threat, and the apparent ability to carry out that threat by any means."
Salazar has no felony convictions in Riverside County.

"The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office takes a zero-tolerance approach to threats against public officials and any member of the public," the agency reported Tuesday. "These types of incidents will receive our full attention, and all investigative steps will be taken to identify and hold accountable individuals who think this type of behavior is acceptable."
