RivCo Gets Grant To Reduce Alcohol-Related Crime

The money will help the sheriff's office target places that provide alcohol to minors and address other public safety concerns.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — New grant money will bolster Riverside County's efforts to reduce harm caused by alcohol, including programs to tackle alcohol use among minors.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Office on Thursday announced a $75,000 grant awarded by the state to support alcohol-related enforcement, education and prevention programs, like "minor decoy" and "shoulder tap" operations.

"This is important to the cities of Lake Elsinore, Wildomar, Canyon Lake, Jurupa Valley, Moreno Valley, Perris, [the] community of El Cerrito, and to the communities surrounding those municipalities in order to increase protection for youth and to hold accountable problem locations that continue to an increase in crime," Capt. Jim Rayls said in a statement.
