Service On 3 Metrolink Lines Scheduled For Temporary 2-Day Disruption
On Oct. 25-26, trains will not run on the Orange County (OC), Inland Empire-Orange County (IEOC) or Ventura County (VC) lines.

CORONA, CA — Metrolink, Southern California’s regional passenger rail provider, is suspending service this weekend on three lines for planned maintenance and construction work.
On Oct. 25-26, trains will not run on the Orange County (OC), Inland Empire-Orange County (IEOC) or Ventura County (VC) lines, and alternate transportation will not be available, according to a Metrolink news release.
The closure corresponds with a planned North County Transit District work window, which will also impact Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service. Work will begin during the evening on Friday, Oct. 24, requiring the cancellation of southbound OC Line train 634, scheduled to depart LA Union Station at 9:40 p.m. Alternate bus service will be provided between the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo and Oceanside stations for passengers of train 634.

Among the numerous work projects planned, the San Juan Creek Bridge replacement near San Juan Capistrano will complete the final steps before entering service. The existing track and signal infrastructure on the more-than-100-year-old railroad bridge will be cut over to the newly constructed bridge. Metrolink's Positive Train Control system will also be integrated into the new alignment over the weekend.
Beyond work on the San Juan Creek Bridge, Metrolink will address multiple maintenance/repair projects along the overlapping stretch of the OC and IEOC lines north of Oceanside, including surfacing work and rail plug installation near the Irvine Station and switch maintenance at various locations between the Tustin and Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo stations.

Underdrain construction is planned near the San Clemente Station to prevent buildup of rainwater and storm runoff, and Southern California Edison crews will perform work south of the Santa Ana Station. On the VC Line, switch tie replacement will stretch from Burbank to Van Nuys.
Metrolink service on the 91/Perris Valley, Antelope Valley and San Bernardino lines will not be impacted, and trains are expected to operate normally on all lines on Monday, Oct. 27.
