Brush Fire Burning Off I-15 Fwy: 23 Acres, School Evacuated

LAKE ELSINORE, CA— A brush fire that erupted in the Temescal Valley area of Riverside County scorched 23 acres Friday afternoon before firefighters halted its rate of spread, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department confirmed.

The fire's spread was stopped around 2:15 p.m., CalFire said in an update.

The blaze, which began at 12:45 p.m., threatened structures nearby and immediate evacuations were ordered for a nearby elementary school in Alberhill in the Lake Elsinore Unified School District, according to Cal Fire.

"The kids are being bussed out," she had said.

Lake Elsinore Unified School District did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

No other evacuations were ordered

Shortly before 1 p.m., firefighters arrived in the 12400 block of Beardsley Road, where the flames ignited. At 1:30 p.m., the fire was actively burning through medium to thick vegetation in the Miles Fire. Air support was called to assist in the firefight along with ground support teams.
