Woman Killed In Menifee Crash

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Menifee Friday.

MENIFEE, CA — A 79-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Menifee, authorities said this weekend.

The accident was reported around 3:35 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Sherman and Shadel roads, according to the Menifee Police Department.

Responding officers found a Kia Soul with major damage and found an unresponsive woman still inside. Cal Fire and paramedics responded to the scene, where the woman was pronounced dead.

The Menifee PD's Traffic Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Investigators believe the vehicle was traveling east on Shadel Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at Sherman Road, continuing over the curb, through a cinderblock wall and coming to a rest in the back yard of a residence.

Investigators said they believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.

The woman was the sole occupant of the car, but her identity was withheld.
