LAKE FOREST, CA — Lake Forest Little League will be playing with a different kind of ball in March when the organization hosts its first-ever golf ball drop fundraiser.

The event will be at Heroes Park on March 5 at 10:15 a.m., and will raise funds for the organization.

"We are dealing with rising costs, a limited budget, and have a desire to ensure every child can participate regardless of financial ability," Lake Forest Little League said on its fundraising page for the ball drop. "Fundraising efforts help keep registration fees low while still allowing us to replace old field & team equipment, maintain our fields and more."

A bucket of golf balls will drop from an Orange County Fire Authority ladder truck toward a target on the ground, and the balls that land the closest will win. The fundraiser will offer prizes up to $3,000, $1,500 and $500, according to Lake Forest Little League.

Anyone interested in participating can buy balls for the drop at $20 per ball. Heroes Park is at 25420 Jeronimo Road.
