Lost Wallet Turns Into Fraud Arrest In Lake Forest, Sheriff's Say

The Orange County Sheriff's Department alleges the lost wallet's owner is a suspect in a major fraud case.

LAKE FOREST, CA — A man looking for his lost wallet in Lake Forest last weekend resulted in an arrest in a major fraud case, the Orange County Sheriff's Department announced Wednesday.

Deputies responded to a local business regarding a lost wallet. When the wallet's owner arrived, the deputies found he was a suspect in a major fraud case "involving retail and personal theft," the department wrote on Facebook.

The man was taken into custody and, during the investigation, deputies reportedly found heroin, methamphetamine and fake ID cards in the man's possession, the sheriff's department said.

The sheriff's department has declined to release the man's name.
