1 Killed In East County House Fire

SPRING VALLEY, CA — A person was killed in a house fire over the weekend in eastern San Diego County, authorities said.

A neighbor reported a fire around 4 a.m. Sunday at a home in the 8600 block of Eileen Street in Spring Valley, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.

Deputies and firefighters found the back of the home engulfed in flames. While putting out the fire, a person was found dead inside the home, according to the department.

The victim's identity was not released. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
