1955: San Diego County Auto Show Returns

According to the Spring Valley Bulletin, here's what was happening in your neighborhood, this week in 1955:
– W. Earle Smart, a Lemon Grove attorney, was formally inducted into San Diego County YMCA Board of Directors. Judge L.N. Tumentine welcomed Smart at a ceremony last week. He will review and assist local Y clubs and is in charge of organizing camping activities.

– Von Willer, a Lemon Grove contractor, said that if he were elected to the La Mesa-Lemon Grove-Spring Valley Irrigation District, he will investigate the heavy increase in assesment fees. Willer is running against Harry Griffin (he of Harry Griffin Park) as the incumbent, and Roy Nielsen, a real estate broker. The election is for the position of assesor, treasurer for the District.

– The County Auto Show is set for the upcoming February, it was announced by Richard McCune, president of the Motor Car Dealers Association of San Diego. It will be the first show in 22 years, and will be at the Electric Building of Balboa Park. McCune added that the show will be the same Pacific Coast Auto Expo, scheduled for Los Angeles and San Francisco. "It will be the most dramatic, spectacular pageant of the year," said McCune.
