Barbecue Grill on I-8 in La Mesa Causes Car to Overturn; Driver Hurt but Expected to Survive
The sports car encounters a grill that fell from another vehicle and flips in the fast lane of I-8 near Severin Drive.
A sports car overturned on Interstate 8 early Sunday afternoon when the driver swerved to avoid a barbecue grill that fell from another vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver suffered a nonlethal gash to the head and was taken to Sharp Memorial hospital, the CHP said.
The accident occured around 12:25 p.m. in the fast lane of westbound I-8 just west of Severin Drive, and the car was towed away and the road cleared by 1 p.m., according to the CHP.
