Boy Listening to iPod Attacked from Behind on Mills Street

Boy's arm was injured, but he was released from hospital later Thursday night.

A 13-year-old boy listening to iPod music on earphones was attacked from behind Thursday night while walking home on Mills Street near Orchard Avenue, police say.

An unknown assailant struck the boy in the arm with an unknown object, and took the boy's iPod as he fell to the ground in pain, police said.No words were exchanged during the robbery, and the attacker ran away in an unknown direction.

The victim never saw the attacker  and was unable to provide a suspect description.

La Mesa police received a call  a little after 8 p.m. about the robbery victim being treated at Sharp Grossmont Hospital.  Officers responding to the hospital found the victim  being treated for a 1½-inch contusion on his left forearm.

The victim was treated for his arm injury and was released to his father.
