Bullet Grazes Head of 16-Year-Old Robbery Victim from Arizona
Incident took place near Chico Club on western edge of La Mesa.

A 16-year-old Arizona boy staying in a La Mesa motel with his family suffered a graze wound to the head during a robbery near the Chico Club about 1:50 a.m. Monday, authorities said.
The boy was taken to Sharp Grossmont Hospital, but is expected to survive the bullet injury.
La Mesa police said the boy was riding his skateboard when the robbery occurred in the 7300 block of El Cajon Boulevard near Keeney Street—the San Diego city limit.

Police Capt. Carlos Medero said the boy was alone and willingly gave up the items, He was shot afterward, Medero said.
The robber took a personal item and a small amount of cash from the teen, who makes his home in Paradise Valley, AZ.

Investigators were working with the San Diego Police Department to
determine if the crime was related to a subsequent robbery spree in San Diego.
San Diego police said that between about 2 and 2:15 a.m., two gunmen
robbed at least three pedestrians in the Mid-City area. They were described as
Hispanic males in their 20s with shaved heads, last seen driving a dark SUV
with large chrome rims.
