Couple Arrested in Three Home Burglaries at Thorne and Saranac
Man and woman in their early 20s jailed after neighborhood tipster alerted police.

A tip from a neighbor led to the arrest of two Thorne Drive residents on suspicion of burglarizing three homes Tuesday morning in their west La Mesa neighborhod, according to authorities and police records.
La Mesa police said Wednesday that “between 8:30 a.m. and 11a.m. there were three residential burglaries reported on Thorne Drive and Saranac Place. … A witness to one of the burglaries pointed out the suspects, who were still in the area, to a [La Mesa police] community service officer.”
The officer relayed that information to police dispatchers, and patrol officers responded to the area and “stopped the suspects as they attempted to flee in a vehicle,” police said.
Stolen property from the burglaries was recovered, including electronics equipment, said police Lt. Dan Willis.
Arrested Tuesday were Damu Ray Lucas, 20, and Victoria Adriana Gonzalez, who turns 20 next week, police records show.
Lucas was booked Tuesday into downtown County Jail and Gonzalez was booked into Las Colinas Detention Facility in Santee, with Lucas still in jail on $50,000 bail.
Lucas’ arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. Thursday in El Cajon Superior Court. Gonzalez, arrested on a charge of receiving stolen property, is not listed as being in jail.
