Driver Wounded In Freeway Shooting In La Mesa

LA MESA, CA — A driver was wounded in a freeway shooting over the weekend on Interstate 8 in La Mesa, authorities said.

The shooting happened at about 3:35 p.m. Sunday on westbound I-8, east of Grossmont Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At least two shots were fired, one of which struck an El Cajon man driving a red Chrysler PT Cruiser, CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The suspect was described as a Black man, Grieshaber said. He was driving a black Ford Fusion.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to contact CHP Officer G. Wilson at the California Highway Patrol's El Cajon area office.
